Engineering and Construction

Capabilities

  • Process Engineering — Conceptual studies, pre-feasibility, FEED, and detailed process engineering. Heat and mass balances, P&IDs, equipment datasheets, and process control narratives. Software: METSIM, Aspen, AutoCAD.
  • Mechanical Engineering — Equipment specification, vessel and tank design, piping design and stress analysis, material selection for corrosive and abrasive service, and vibration analysis.
  • Structural Engineering — Steel and concrete design for process structures, pipe racks, equipment foundations, and building systems. Seismic and wind loading analysis.
  • Electrical and Instrumentation — Power distribution, motor control centers, instrumentation specification, control system architecture, and hazardous area classification.
  • 3D Laser Scanning and Digital Twins — Sub-millimeter precision scanning of existing facilities; drone surveying for large sites with sub-inch accuracy; point cloud to 3D model conversion; as- built verification; clash detection; reverse engineering.
  • Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) — Definition of project scope, basis of design, process design criteria, equipment lists, general arrangement drawings, capital cost estimates (AACE Class III), and project execution plans.
  • Detailed Engineering — Full discipline engineering packages including P&IDs, GAs, equipment drawings, structural steel details, piping isometrics, cable schedules, instrument loop diagrams, and construction work packages.
  • Design-Build Delivery — Single-source engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction. Reduces interfaces, shortens schedules, and provides one point of accountability.
  • ASME/NB Certified Fabrication — Two 60,000 sq ft shops: ASME S (power boilers), PP (power piping), U (pressure vessels), R (repairs/alterations). UL-certified panel shops.
  • Modular and Skid Fabrication — Shop-fabricated modular assemblies and skid-mounted systems for reduced field installation time and improved quality control.
  • Construction Execution — Small capital projects, maintenance turnarounds, critical outages, and multi-billion-dollar facility joint ventures across mining, metals, chemical, power, and oil & gas.
  • Quality Control — In-house and third-party QC: weld inspection, NDE/NDT (radiography, ultrasonic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant), dimensional verification, hydrostatic testing, and documentation packages.
  • AACE Estimates (Class I–IV) — Capital cost estimates calibrated to project phase: order of magnitude through definitive. Construction insight from estimators with field experience.
  • Execution Planning — Integrated project schedules, constructability reviews, procurement strategies, and logistics planning.
  • 3D Model-Based Design — Design within digital twin environments to eliminate clashes,
optimize pipe routing, and validate constructability before breaking ground.

End-to-end design-build delivery — from concept to commissioned plant.

MTS provides multi-discipline engineering and full-scope construction through our sister company McCarl’s LLC. Our engineers have hands-on industrial operations experience, and our fabrication and construction teams execute the designs we create. This eliminates the gap between engineering intent and field reality.
